Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-created theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
PTA Reflection program encourages students in pre-K through 12th grade to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.
With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique stories.
In Reflections, interpretation of the theme is highly considered during the review process. To learn more about selection criteria in Reflections, visit :
Please read through the National PTA Reflections Program Official Participation Rules.
All Students are eligible to participate if at least ONE MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY BELONGS TO THE PTA.
Eligible students may enter any or all of the six art categories. Multiple entries within a single art category are permitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student and created specifically for the Reflections program based on the national theme.
Each entry must be accompanied by a Student Entry Form. Please submit your piece with the Student Entry Form to Ms. Phillips in the Pioneer Library no later than October 14th.
All submitted pieces will be entered into the Middle School Division. Outside judges are used to review each of the anonymous pieces. Works are judged based on the following:
- Interpretation of Theme - 50%
- Artistic Merit & Creativity - 30%
- Mastery of Medium - 20%
Please be sure to describe how your work interprets this year's theme "Accepting Imperfection" in your Artistic Statement on the Entry Form
Judging and recognition occur locally and students progress through the district, regional, state and national levels. Recogintion is the main focus of this program and students are celebrated in many ways!
